Social Networking to Fight Malaria

Social networking websites like Facebook and Sermo have been launched over the last couple of years as a way to keep in touch with friends and family or discuss specific healthcare topics with fellow colleagues. Although these websites serve these purposes well, perhaps online social networking can be used for a different purpose.

Presidential Elections: Is Zimbabwe a True Democracy?

And we think we have problems with our upcoming presidential elections; look at Zimbabwe. They have been waiting 10 days to find out who has won the election! Is this leading to a changing of the guard? Not if incumbent President Robert Mugabe has anything to say about it.

Air Pollution and the Olympics

From August 8-24, the 2008 Olympics will be in full swing in Beijing, China, but air pollution is at the forefront of many organizers' minds. In fact, earlier this week the International Olympic Committee's top medical official said that although the air quality shouldn't affect athletes' health, it "could affect world-class performances."

Will Universal Coverage Work?

At MDNG I’m always getting teased for all of the traveling I do, especially when I was set to go to Belize only a couple weeks after I started working here. Anytime I take time off of work it’s always, “Have fun in Zimbabwe” or something similar. I love to travel. It’s one of my biggest passions in life, for which I give most of the credit to my parents.
